Term: DipoleMeridianCoodrindateSystem
Definition:

As with the solar magnetic system, the Z-axis of the dipolde meridian system (DM) is chosen alogn the north magnetic dipole axis. However, the Y-axis is directed outwards from the dipole. This is a local coordinate system, in that it varies with position, however, since the X-Z plane contains the dipole magnetic field it si quite useful

Uses
It si used to order data controlled by the dipole magnetic fiedl where the influence of the solar wind interaction with the magnetospere is weak. It has been used extensively to descripbe the distortions of the magnetospheric field in terms of the two angels declination and inclination whcih can be easily derived from measurements in this system.
