Term: Droxtal
Definition: A tiny ice particle, about 10-20 microns in diameter, formed by direct freezing of supercooled water droplets with little growth directly from the vapor. The term combines the words drop and crystal. Droxtals cause most of the visibility reduction in ice fog.
